I was recently given an opportunity by Moms Meet to try a sample of the new Kashi ® TLC ® Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars*. These are one of their soft and chewy granola bars.
• For more than 25 years, Kashi has stood up for real food, offering a variety of naturally nutritious foods and educational resources for everyone to enjoy.
I’ve been buying Kashi’s chewy granola bars (my fave is the cherry chocolate kind), as they’re a quick and healthy snack, not only for my twins and I, but for my husband as well. I like to make sure he’s got a box of Kashi or other healthy non-perishable snack in his desk drawer at work, in case he’s stuck working extra hours, or has forgotten his lunchbox. (Otherwise he’s at the mercy of the office vending machine – ugh!)
I tried a couple of the Kashi ® TLC ® Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars myself, and they’re pretty good! The “frosting” isn’t too sweet, I can clearly taste the chocolate, and also the date fruit base. I like the whole-grain texture – no filler in these bars. They don’t stick to my teeth, and the flavor lasts all the way until I’m done chewing – so I don’t feel like I’m trying to get a wad of tasteless cud down my throat.
I didn’t really get a strong peanut taste – which in my case is a good thing, and I have mixed feelings about peanuts, in general. Overall, it was a pleasant snacking experience that didn’t leave me feeling guilty or over-sugared.
• Made with Kashi’s signature blend of Seven Whole Grains, Kashi ®TLC ® Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars feature the smooth taste of peanuts with rich, dark chocolate for a sweet and savory flavor combination the whole family can enjoy.
And of course anything that can get more protein and fiber into the girls, and make them think they’re getting a treat that is comparable to the conventional treats they sometimes see their friends eat, is a major plus!
• Each Kashi ®TLC ® Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bar has 7 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein, making it a delicious indulgence you can feel good about.
I decided to hold the event at my church, after the sermon, during social time. There were several members of Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) there, as well as many Japanese Family Circle members.
At first, the ladies were pretty shy, despite the ‘Free Sample’ sign, but a few bravely came forward to try the Kashi ® TLC ® Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars, and let their kids eat them as well.
When I told them that the “frosting” on top of the bars was actually pureed dates mixed with chocolate, they got very excited and more enthusiastically urged their kids to try them.
• Kashi’s products are natural, minimally processed, and free of highly refined sugars, artificial additives, and unnatural preservatives.
A number of the ladies commented favorably that while the bar was sweet enough to enjoy, it wasn’t sickeningly sweet, like other snack bar brands they’ve tried in the past.
By and large, the results were pretty good. I had them fill out a short survey, and a surprising number of them indicated that they would be on the lookout for the Kashi ® TLC ® Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars in their local grocery store.
Then my girls got involved. They grabbed handfulls of the bars off the display, and started working the crowd, smiling beatifically up at people and thrusting the bars happily into peoples’ hands. Within 15 minutes, everyone in the room had a bar, so my girls proudly trooped back to me and made off with a stack of my blog business cards and proceeded to hand those out, as well.
Soon I had many more moms coming up to my display table, asking questions about the Kashi ® TLC ® Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars, asking where they were sold, and how much they were, and other questions.
And I didn’t see the rather lonely-looking vending machine in the corner of the cafeteria get used even once – so mission accomplished!!
• Kashi ® TLC ® Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars retail for $3.89. You can find them at most major grocery stores nationwide.
