I recently saw Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution on TV and boy, that fella is very inspirational!! I was starting to slide on the slippery slope of adding more processed convenience food to our diet, just out of sheer exhaustion, when Jamie managed to do a virtual kicking my butt out of that slump over the airwaves!
Now most days of the week I’m either making stuff from scratch (and my husband thinks he’s died and gone to heaven!) or serving stuff I made from scratch a couple of weeks prior and froze the extras.
I’m even starting to drop a little weight!
Then I got the bright idea (IMHO) to do a food swap with my friend who lives a few doors down. She only knows how to cook Korean food, which my husband loves but I have no earthly clue how to do, and I cook a mix of other ethnic foods along with good ol’ American specialties (like PB&J sandwiches) which HER husband would love to eat, but she’s got no earthly how to go about it either.
Thus the Food Swap was born!
When I cook something that turns out okay, I pack up a sample and take it over to her and she does the same. If we like what we get, we ask for the recipe and/or cooking lesson.
I’ll be posting some of my recipes on this page from the Food Swap, and if you have any bright ideas that are Cheap, Easy, Quick and preferably use or can substitute non-exotic ingredients, then by all means, let us in on your culinary secrets
Just send your recipe to: lara@twiceblessedlife.com and put FOOD SWAP in the subject header.
Happy Eating!
