Okay, I’m a bit of a science nerd – I do tend to occasionally geek out over science-y stuff 😀
But if you’re not really into the science of Energy Healing, that’s perfectly okay! It still has the same effect, whether you’ve done a deep-dive research fest on it or not! But some folks do want to explore the more science-y themes, so this page is for us Blue Shirt folks (Star Trek reference). 😀
Everything in the world has energy and our bodies are no exception to this. Each part of our bodies has an energetic field, including our organs and tissues. Think about it for a moment…take your hand as an example: what is it made of?
It’s made of tissues, bones, nerves, etc.
What are those made of? Those are all made of cells, and the cells are made of different cell parts. Those are made of molecules, which are made of atoms, which are made of sub-atomic particles, which are made of quarks, and so on and so on, until at our most basic – we are made of energy!
E = mc2 as Einstein put it. Energy and mass (matter) are interchangeable.
Similarly, emotions, experiences, traumas, interactions, and more all carry energy.
Our premise is that those energies can interact with the energy in our bodies in specific ways. Energy may become trapped and create an imbalance within us. The impacts of these imbalances can affect us in a variety of ways. They may lead to physical discomfort or emotional turmoil. Energy healing seeks to identify energetic imbalances or blockages and remove them. By removing these energies, the body is then able to better heal itself!
Homeopathy is a form of energetic healing that many have found to be effective, as well as Reiki. Reiki has even been found to be effective at a distance.
Emotional energy, emotional trauma, have definitively been found to have a pronounced effect on the human body, even if inherited, and energetic effects have been studied to have an effect on the human body and human energy field – even at great distances!
A fairly recent discovery about just one of the many ways that emotional energy might affect the human body, is the work of Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto. He’s famous for subjecting water samples to a variety of conditions – being treated with love and kindness or beautiful classical music or positive words, or being treated with negative words, horrible music or negative treatment – then flash-freezing them and photographing the resulting ice crystals. The crystals that had been subjected to positive treatment were aesthetically beautiful, and the crystals that had been subjected to negative treatment were distorted and ugly. His book “The Hidden Messages of Water” was a bestseller. https://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Messages-Water-Masaru-Emoto/dp/1582701148
He also carried out an experiment where positive and negative intentions were aimed at water samples over a distance which also had similar effects ( https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16979104/ ).
Now think about how such a very large percentage of the human body is made up of water!
Another series of experiments done by a scientist named Cleve Backster showed that plants could even react to someone’s mental state, and also react to other plants’ reactions to negative stimuli. He also was involved in experiments that showed that human cells separated from their donor by many hundreds of miles would also react to the donor’s experiences. (https://www.thesunmagazine.org/articles/23434-the-plants-respond) That’s how very sensitive to emotional or mental energies, we are! Animals too!
And it’s amazing how a being’s energy field can connect with another’s, regardless of the distance between them!
The work of Dr. Rupert Sheldrake regarding morphic resonance – that the effects of what one group has learned can be passed on to other groups separated at a distance, or even passed down through lineage – also lends credence to the premise that energy healing can be done effectively at a distance, and that even trapped emotional energy can be passed down to and affect subsequent generations. (https://www.sheldrake.org/online-courses/morphic-resonance-course) A couple of his books can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1594773173 and here: https://www.amazon.com/New-Science-Life-Rupert-Sheldrake-ebook/dp/B00KFEJKNY .
Another well-regarded book by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, M.D. “The Body Keeps The Score” https://www.amazon.com/Body-Keeps-Score-Healing-Trauma/dp/0143127748 also describes the effects of trauma on the body’s systems.
Regarding the possibility of inheriting an ancestor’s trauma to the point of it having an effect on a descendant’s physical body – well there certainly is plenty of evidence that this can occur.
There have been studies done showing that the children of Holocaust survivors also show that the effects of their parents’ trauma have been inherited. https://www.bu.edu/jewishstudies/transgenerational-effects/
The field of Quantum Physics and Quantum Entanglement are very interesting as mainstream science begins to explore phenomena that people all over the world are already familiar with, and have been ‘in the know’ about for millennia.
Another couple of interesting books are “Why Woo-Woo Works: The Surprising Science Behind Meditation, Reiki, Crystals, and Other Alternative Practices” by David R. Hamilton, PHD https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1401961703 , and “Many Lives, Many Masters” by Brian L. Weiss, M.D. which explores the effects that even past lives’ traumas may have on people, physically and mentally. https://www.amazon.com/Many-Lives-Masters-Prominent-Psychiatrist/dp/0671657860
However, while all of this is fascinating to explore, it is not necessary to know all this for the effects to be experienced, as many have already experienced such effects without being scientists themselves.
